This first part of this series is going to be about my favorite, Gardening.

The garden brings so much life to me. Usually when I’m in the thick of preserving I get overwhelmed with the abundance. Then I remember how good it feels to go to the freezer for green beans or the basement for potatoes or tomato sauce throughout the fall and winter. I enjoy feeding our family well and this is the best way for me to do that.

Each year as the garden grows (and I anticipate it will for many years), I also grow. I learn how to make and can new things. I learn how to ‘Grow Something Beautiful’ for our family and anyone that stops by the enjoy. Being a person that desires to be a life long learner, the garden keeps me coming back for more. What can I learn and then share with our kids so they can just grow up knowing these things and not be in there 30s or 50s and just be learning it?

So much information can be gained (or lost) in one generation. My desire is to see that our kids know how to grow in many different ways. I don’t know where they are going to be when they are adults, but I do know they will be able to grow food. Whether it’s in a grow tower in an apartment, in raised beds in town, or in full sized gardens in the country, they will know how to grow food. It will be second nature to them, not something foreign. They will know what to do with the things they grow.

I have grown in flower beds along our rental home, in a large garden in the yard, in a GreenStalk and raised beds. This year I am also going to be growing in a hoop house. I think it’s good to explore new ways of growing things and to continue to learn each year.

Putting your hands in the dirt is therapeutic. It causes you to relax and let go of those things that have been stressing you or causing you anxiety.

Every time I head out to the garden, whether its to pick flowers, pull weeds or enjoy the scenery, I instantly feel calmer.

God provided the garden. He knew how important it was going to be for us. This world we live in is so far from the original garden, but the garden can still offer a healing to our souls. So much beauty can be found once we step outside, I like to think He knew we would need to garden to refresh our minds and help us through the different seasons of life.

I’m so excited for the opportunity to Grow Something Beautiful again this year and to be able to share the process with you all.

Also, if you haven’t heard I am able to sell Botanical Interests Seeds. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions, I will do my best to help you along!

Grow Something Beautiful,
