Lavender Melt and Pour Soap (it’s so easy!)

I’ve been wanting to make soap for a while but as with most new things I tend to over think the process.

I had the supplies for several months and finally decided I was ready to give it a try.

I decided to use goat milk so for its added minerals and vitamins, it’s gentle on skin, helps keep skin hydrated while working hard at removing dead cells and clogged impurities.

What is soap making without trying to add in some lavender?

Lavender is good for detoxifying skin, soothes dry skin, gently soothes skin and prevents wrinkles. Another thing I found out about lavender oil is that “The ancient Greeks used lavender oil to clean wounds, heal burns, and treat other skin injuries. Its antiseptic properties also help skin to heal faster, while fighting and preventing further infection”. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.100percentpure.com/a/amp/blogs/feed/6-reasons-to-use-lavender-oil-for-skin

Now on to the simple way to use melt and pour soap.( I have made a few changes since I made the video. I believe this recipe will result in a more even distribution of the lavender vs it all settling at the top of the bar).

2 lb. goat’s milk soap base

1/2 cup dried lavender

40 drops lavender essential oil

Soap mold

Spritz bottle filled with rubbing alcohol

Cut the soap base into 1 inch chunks. Place pieces into a glass bowl. Put bowl onto of pot with warm water. Use caution that water doesn’t get into soap bowl. Melt it in a pot on the stove over low heat. Keep stirring until melted completely. It’s easier to pour the soap into the molds if you transfer it to a 4 cup liquid measuring cup after it’s melted.

Allow the melted soap to cool just a bit. Heat can dilute the scent of essential oils. You can add as little or as much as you like. Start with about 25 drops, stir, and then smell.

Coat the soap mold with coconut oil. Pour in half of your soap base. Add in half dried lavender. Let cool for a few minutes. This will help keep all the lavender from settling at the top.

Then add in the remaining soap and top with remaining dried lavender.

Spray the top of the soap with rubbing alcohol. Allow the soap to harden for at least an hour. I left mine on frig overnight. Gently pop out , cut into desired thickness and store in an airtight container until ready to use.

It’s easy as that.

And the best part is that you can use it right away!

Until Next Time, Enjoy!
