Thinking about sourdough and a Waffle recipe for your discard.

I had no idea what I was doing. And in all honesty, I still don’t know ALOT about it, but I feel comfortable with it now.

The first time (and second time) I felt intimidated by it. I didn’t understand it. I didn’t know how to keep it ‘alive’, let alone what to do with the ‘discard’.

This time I feel willing to try anything. The bread didn’t turn out very good. However the pancakes and waffles have been 👌.

I was thinking about my journey with sourdough, as we were making waffles this morning, and realized some of the problem was the resources I was referencing. I had a book that was too advanced for me.I hadn’t watched enough YouTube with people using it.

I simply think the timing wasn’t right.

God has a perfect time for everything in our lives. Yes, somethings we have to work through the hard things to learn the lessons. But sometimes, we just have to have the door shut for a while.

Here’s to trying sourdough again and learning how to use it properly 😁

Enjoy the waffles! I think this will become a favorite in your home, as it has in ours.

Sourdough Waffles

Almost 1 1/4 cup sourdough ( I had pulled out about 1/2 cup of discard the evening before, added 1/2 cup and 1/3 warm water. Stirred together and left overnight)

2 cups milk 3 cups flour

1 tsp vanilla

3-4 Tbsp sugar

6 tbsp butter, Melted

Mix, then add

3 eggs

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

Mix until combined. Then you are ready to make waffles per you waffle makers directions.

These were very fluffy, not overly sour and a great way to use up your discard

*I also made these with gluten free flour. They turned out just as well. *
