We are called to Love One Another

I had been up for a while, thinking and praying over two text I read that morning.

Bo and I go to bed early because we start our days early, so I didn’t hear the messages when they came the night before.

One was to say a person had decided they were ready for Hospice.

The other shared a grim health report of one of there children.

Neither good news and both full of pain.

The first person has lived a full life, and as much as it will hurt for the ones left behind, we all understand the desire they feel to let go and be with Jesus and loved ones that went on ahead of them.

The other one has had a lot going on in the last year and half. This news feels like a final blow, like all the puzzle pieces that were once close by are now tossed about.

We live in a world that is so full.Full of love and all the things we could ever want. But it’s also very full of sickness and pain.

As it’s December and most people are thinking about the gift giving and receiving, lights and parties. Are enough people thinking about the true sacrifice Jesus made coming here to Earth?

We all think about that sweet baby in a manger, forgetting the pain Mary went through for months.

The pain of being unwed and pregnant.

The pain of not being understood. God chose her for this mighty task but only few could understand that.

As we prepare our hearts and homes for welcoming Christmas and Baby Jesus. Please take the time to check in on friends and family you haven’t spoke to in such a long time. I’m just as guilty of letting my time get spent elsewhere and not checking in on people.

You don’t have to agree with all the choices they have made. They are still precious people trying there best to do what God has led them to do in this life. We weren’t called to understand everyone’s choices, that’s between them and God, but we are called to love one another.

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.”

Romans 13:8
